Seminar - Culture and regeneration

Type: Regenwm Event RegenWM Event

Date: 22 October 2009 10am-1pm

Location: The Balcony Rooms, Level 4, Millennium Point, Curzon Street, Birmingham, B4 7XG.

What is the seminar about?

This seminar will explore what culture and sport mean to individuals, communities and cities and how they can be harnessed to support regeneration outcomes. We will look at examples of where cultural projects have been used to create a sense of place and as the driving force for major regeneration through to initiatives designed to tackle regeneration targets around health, community engagement and worklessness. There will also be time to consider the importance of including culture and sport in planning for sustainable communities as well as the implications of a challenging economic climate for these aspects of community life.

Please note the date for this seminar has been changed from 8 October.

Speakers - Tim Bryan and Gavin Willetts of the former regional coordination body for culture, Culture West Midlands

Please book in good time to avoid disappointment. Please note that non-attendance without prior notice to RegenWM or cancellation within 24 hours of the event will incur a £50 cancellation fee.
